Ed and Laura loved their home but knew they needed more space on the main floor so they could comfortably host events and family gatherings. They also wanted to have a better view of their property so they could take in the scenery and check on their horses. We worked with Invision Design & Render to design a main level for Laura and Ed that met their vision for their home. This included building living room and mudroom additions, remodeling the kitchen, half bath, and master bedroom, and then evolved into also updating the finished basement.
To give Laura and Ed more space, we began with building a living room addition. We filled all three walls of the addition with nearly floor to ceiling windows to create a great view of the property. We also installed a fireplace with a split face marble stone surround to create a focal point for the room. To help make the home even more efficient for the family, we built a mudroom into the garage, that is complete with a dog wash station.
In the existing main floor, we removed the wing walls that enclosed the kitchen so we could create an open floor plan and double the size of the kitchen. We installed new, floor to ceiling cabinets that are backdropped with a honed marble chevron mosaic backsplash. We also added a ten-foot-long center island and a customized coffee bar to make the space perfect for hosting events and family. The main level is finished with painted white shaker style trim along with resurfaced wood floors in each room.
Ed and Laura loved the bright and open feel of their main floor and wanted to continue it into the finished basement. To do this, we replaced all the dark stained millwork with painted white doors and trim. In the bathroom, we removed the wall separating the shower from the rest of the bathroom to create a more open walk-in shower. The shower is finished with a frameless glass shower door, pearly-white honed marble wall tile, a sit-down bench, and a six-foot-tall niche.
