Thompson Kitchen Remodel
Mendota Heights, Minnesota
Located in the heart of the twin cities, the Thompson's were ready for something new, which included an open concept design with the character that would match the home and provide a classic architectural feel.

Why They Called Crimson Valley

The Thompson’s had lived in their home for a while and knew it was time for a change; however, they did not want the stress or extra expenses that come with moving, so they decided to remodel. On the main level, they wanted to update their kitchen and foyer and make them feel bigger. They wanted to better use the space they had so it would be more enjoyable for them every day and be a great space to entertain. We worked with CocoBello Interiors on this project to bring a new and updated feel to the Thompson’s kitchen and home.

To make the kitchen feel bigger, we moved an exposed center beam into the ceiling and removed the soffits.
We also moved some interior walls so we could install custom cabinets into the hall closet wall to open up more of the space in the kitchen.
To provide a beautiful backdrop for the kitchen, we installed a handmade artisan tile backsplash from Mercury Mosaics. The focal point of the tile quickly became the colorful scalloped tile that extends to the ceiling behind the range hood.
Within the custom cabinets, we included a lighted coffee nook. This added a piece of modern elegance to the kitchen and was an extra touch that reflected the client’s personality.
To update and open up the space even more, we extended out the foyer and added a new closet, sitting area, and heated tile flooring.
Along with remodeling the kitchen and foyer, we also updated the wood fireplace to a gas fireplace, refinished all the hardwood floors, and built and installed a custom dining room hutch.
